School Info - KESS

Welcome to Kyuquot Elementary Secondary School in Kyuquot, BC.

We are a small school with about 50 students from grades 1 – 12, located on Public School Lands of the Vancouver Island West School District #84, just adjacent to the Kyuquot-Checleset First Nation. Accessible only by floatplane or boat, getting here is a bit of a challenge, but definitely worth the effort. We are right on the coast and sheltered by an extensive, unique, and magnificent island archipelago and surrounded by beautiful North West Coast Vancouver Island wilderness. Most of our students come from the village of Houpsitas, within the Kyuquot-Checleset First Nation and a few come from adjacent islands.

The school is now closed for summer custodial and maintenance work. We will re-open on Monday, August 27 and operate from 9 to noon and from 1 - 4 each day. Until then, if you have any questions that can't wait please contact principal Marty Szetela (mszetela [at] viw [dot] sd84 [dot] bc [dot] ca) or administration asisstant Donna Szetela (dszetela [at] viw [dot] sd84 [dot] bc [dot] ca).

The 2018 - 2019 school year will be earmarked by plenty of great positive changes to improve the life chances of our students! Watch for our summer newsletter coming in mid-August.

Have a safe revitalizing summer everyone!
